"American Music" Jurored Exhibition

America is a melting pot of cultures, peoples, and perhaps most of all - music. This juried exhibit will run in tandem with the Great American Brass Band Festival, an annual tradition in Danville, Kentucky that brings visitors from across the nation to celebrate the music that brings us all together in a weekend of outdoor concerts.

Jury Criteria

The juror will be asked to select work (both two and three dimensional) that reflects and expresses the theme of American Music while demonstrating creativity, strength of execution, and overall artistic excellence with the goal of selecting a well-rounded exhibit that showcases a broad range of artistic style and interpretation.

About the Juror

Sheldon Tapley is a painter, draftsman, and teacher. Nationally known for his still-life paintings, he worked in abstraction before finding his enduring love of realism, and was a landscapist before turning to still life. His work has been featured on the cover of American Artist magazine and reviewed in the New Yorker. It is in private, corporate and museum collections across the nation. He is the Stodghill Professor of Painting and Drawing at Centre College. See his art at www.sheldontapley.com.
