Arts Education

The Community Arts Center has studio space available for a full range of lessons and activities in dance, drama, music, and visual arts for people of all ages. Our schedule of classes fluctuates from month to month and from season to season.

We welcome new arts programming and new arts instructors. If you have expertise in an area of the arts and would like to teach a class, contact Nancy Martindale, 859-236-4054, for more information.

Lisi's Art Lab

A creative space for kids of all ages! Grab the kids and head on over to the Arts Center for plenty of fun in Lisi's Art Lab! Every 2 weeks the lab will have a new Creative Idea with step-by-step instructions for a fun do-it-yourself project among the regular supplies! Check here for listings of the Creative Idea. Lisi's Art Lab is open during regular Arts Center hours (Wednesday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Beginners Drawing Class (Adults) - Cost: $96 + supplies.

We will learn and implement many basic fundamentals of Drawing including contours, gesture drawing, and drawings where lines and shading join together to create the illusion of space and depth through various Perspective techniques. We will learn how values describe surfaces in shadow, and light. We will also be analyzing and discussing various elements of composition and drawing techniques we learn throughout the quarter from visual examples. Supplies will be required for this class. Belly Dancing - Mondays, 7-8 p.m.
Join us for an energetic workout designed to help get you moving, tone those trouble spots, and have fun. This class focuses on beginner level Belly Dance basics, that ANYONE can learn. De-stress, rejuvenate, revitalize, and find your "inner diva," all while participating in a great cardio workout that will help you look and feel great! $10 per class or $50 for 6 classes. Weekly Monday sessions using the ABC Music & Me curricula designed to provide toddlers (ages 1 to 5) and a parent/caregiver a unique opportunity to interact and learn about music, while the child builds self-confidence, self-control and communication skills.
