Arts Education
The Community Arts Center has studio space available for a full range of lessons and activities in dance, drama, music, and visual arts for people of all ages. Individual arts instructors design their own programs and set their own schedules. Therefore, our schedule of classes fluctuates from month to month and from season to season.
We welcome new arts programming and new arts instructors. if you have expertise in an area of the arts and would like to teach a class, contact Nancy Martindale, 859-236-7993, for more information.

- Children's Ballet - Tuesdays, 5-7
Led by local dance instructor Robin Cooper, weekly classes for ages 3 and older through September. Contact instructor for details on class fees and registration.

- Beginning Hands in Clay - Tuesdays, 4-5 (Sept. 9-30) - NEW class!
Learn to make clay pots, beads or figures with your hands and simple tools. We'll experiment with pinch pots, coil and rolled figures and small tiles. Demonstration and hands-on work. Children and adults are welcome for this 4 week session. Class size is limited. $30 includes materials.

- Tai Chi - Wednesdays (9-10 a.m.)
Weekly sessions focus on the elements of Tai Chi. Class meets at Millenium Park, or the CAC during inclement weather. $10 per week session fee.

- Arts for Kids, ETC. - resumes September 15
REGISTRATION: Thursday, Sept. 10, 4-6:30 pm
Beginning the week of Sept. 15,
Arts for Kids, ETC. Mini Production Classes for students, Kindergarten - High School. Children meet once weekly in age appropriate
theatre training classes using theatre
games and exercises to develop character and performance
skills. All students enrolled in classes rehearse
and play roles in "Elves in the Toyshop," a one-act
play which will be presented in collaboration with
Pioneer Playhouse in mid-November. Tuition: $60 K-
1st grade; $80 2nd grade and up. Scholarships
available to qualifying students.

- The Basics of Drawing - Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m. (begins September 10)
Designed for all ages, this beginner’s five-week session covers the basics of drawing from a still life, starting with simple lines, shapes and forms, building up to texture and shading. Students are encouraged to bring their preferred drawing tools. $30 class fee.

Youth orchestral program providing group lessons, individual instruction, orchestra sessions and a string chamber group. Monday and Thursday sessions offered for third grade through high school students.
