Craig Payst

Why study theater and drama?

"Live performance is essential to the experience of human culture. It touches us in a way that nothing that ever happens on a screen really can. The immediacy, the depth of live performance gives us access to thoughts and feelings that we would otherwise have to pay for with unendurable suffering or continually be disappointed in as we strive for unobtainable joy. Theater makes us better. Not better than other people, just better people."
